Project: Natascha
I met Natascha in Minsk, the capital of Belarus. She raises two sons there together with her mother. Their country became independent from the Soviet Union in 1991. The fact that she lives in what is considered to be the last dictatorship in Europe means very little to Natascha.

(….) My mother says that with each year that passes, our country improves. I ask her what makes her say this? Do we eat more meat each year? Because we actually eat less meat each year. (…) Even so, I am not so sure the leaders of our country are so bad, and the leaders of foreign countries are good. How am I supposed to know this? Leaders come and leaders go. What remains is our country. Our earth, our soil. The earth we work, the earth beneath our feet."
